Expanding Medicare in this way will help millions of seniors and disabled Americans. This would mean NO MORE supplements, saving Americans crucial funds while many are on fixed incomes.
Americans pay the highest price for prescription drugs in the world. This is because pharma has infiltrated our government by purchasing our legislators. People should NEVER have to ration life saving drugs and no one should die because they can't afford medicine.
Americans can be charged $5,000-$10,000+ per MONTH to live in an assisted living facility. Their life savings is drained until they are broke and it’s then paid for by Medicaid. People shouldn’t lose everything because they grew older after dedicating their lives to building the society we inherited.
The first few months of a child's life is a crucial time for bonding with the parents. We need to join every other modernized nation and make sure that this time is promoted and protected for parents to experience.
A federal policy to provide affordable, comprehensive coverage to uninsured adults in the non-expansion states coverage gap would lead to at least 7,000 lives saved each year and 48,640 fewer evictions each year.
Dan's daughter is now 8 years old so it was not too long ago that he and his wife had to cover the large burden of childcare. He understands this burden. Families should not have to worry about the quality of care and the financial burden of finding childcare when working to better our society.
We must give our children every opportunity possible to succeed in life so that they can pursue the American Dream and help to build the future of our society.
As the representative of nearly the poorest people in America Dan will fight to protect the social safety nets that so many Arkansans rely on. We need to protect, extend, and expand the child tax credit that has began lifting so many children form poverty.
Education has always been important but has never been as important as it is now. By 2035 we will have a 40% unemployment due to the automation of jobs. We need to make sure that by this time we have giving our children every opportunity possible to be able to succeed in the upcoming technological era.
So many families owe their largest debt to banks that own the mortgage of their home. People are paying 50% of their incomes in rent just to put a roof over their heads. Over half a million people live on the streets, 17% of which are veterans, while three times that many homes are bank owned and vacant. We need historic change in housing in America!
Pretending climate change is not real is not going to save us from it. We need aggressive action now if we are to preserve our planet for future generations. Can you imagine if we reallocated fossil fuel subsidies for 1 year and instead spent that money on putting solar on every home, business, and school in America? We wouldn't need to subsidize them again.
Representing a state where 1 in 4 children are food insecure makes it a top priority to fight against child hunger. Every student should have access to a free meal at school. Increasing SNAP benefits is equally as important to make sure kids have full stomachs and access to healthy foods.
The immigration process is complicated, expensive, and scary. We need to change this by creating a clear path to citizenship or residency. Having experienced the process first hand Dan will fight to make it easier for the hardworking people that keep our society running to gain the same benefits as every other tax payer. We are a nation of immigrants, build by immigrants, and must continue to fight to protect the melting pot of culture in our country.
Owning a small business is the dream of many Americans. You will never get wealthy working for someone else, only make that person wealthy with your hard work. Small businesses are overburdened with high tax rates while the giant corporations that the tax rates were designed to burden avoid taxation altogether through the use of loopholes, loopholes that need to be eliminated. We need to lower the tax burden on small businesses and start making these tax evading corporations pay their fair share!
Billionaires and corporations have been evading taxation for far too long. We have allowed these large donors and special interests to purchase the legislative and executive branches of our government. 86% of candidates with more money win elections and these interests know that, they made it this way. We have politicians that take money from these special interest then pass legislation, written by these same interests, that hurt their constituents while benefiting their own interests. Our "representatives" no longer work for us, but for the people that bought them. We have also allowed these interests to infiltrate the executive branch through the appointments of these industries CEOs into the presidential cabinet. We have wallstreet regulating wallstreet, the fossil fuel industry regulating the fossil fuel industry, health and pharma corporations are even regulating themselves as well. It is time to return our government to being one that is BY the people, FOR the people, not one that is bought and paid for by special interests for those interests.
Dan is not saying that we need to over tax these tax evaders, but we MUST end the tax evasion loopholes they put into place through the corrupt use of politicians as well as getting the corruption generating Citizens United decision overturned.
This is not an impossible task, but it will take us standing together, uniting, democrat, republican, and every political stance in-between. It is not people of a single political affiliation that are suffering, we are all suffering together. We are all paying higher taxes, higher inflation prices, and suffering from the profiting industries that hurt us such as the military industrial and prison complexes.
We are in this together and we must come together to fight against the tyranny and corruption of the oligarch that purchased our representative republic.
We must stand together and fight to regain our democracy!
